Crowle NNR,Lincolnshire,Sunday 16th August 2009.

A visit today with John Clarkson to see what Dragon's etc. where about around this superb reserve, got us a good variety of species, which included a large count of 433 Black Darter and good numbers of Common Hawker also, with 23 being seen. This included an ovi-positing female and another female which settled on my arm for photographs. There wasn't many butterflies on the wing probably due to the windy and sometimes overcast conditions, but we still managed to see 8 species, with Speckled Wood being the commonest. The only other notable highlight was a single juv. Hobby watched hawking insects.
